It is always sad to lose a friend. We will use this page to inform our residents of the passing of friends of Melody Gardens. Our sincere sympathies to the families of those who have passed. 

79, Halifax.  Passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital on May 7, 2024.  Roy was born in the Magdalen Islands to the late David and Adeline Collins and was the youngest of six children.  He moved to Nova Scotia approximately 50 years ago.  Roy worked contract work at the Chronicle Herald.  After marrying Claudia and retiring, they, together, enjoyed many winters at their favorite second home in Melody Gardens, Florida. 

Roy is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Collins, NB, his sister, Lorraine Babin (Bill), NS, step-daughters, Darlene Arsenault (Alan) and Jacqueline Raymond (Johnny), both of NS, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife, Claudia (nee Delaney), his only son, Brent Collins, his parents, David and Adeline Collins, his sisters, Nadine Dickson and Elizabeth Collins, and his brother, George Collins.

The family would like to thank the staff of the QEII Infirmary Site, floor 8.4.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral will take place at a later date on the Magdalen Islands.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Roy may be made to the QEII Foundation.
